Terms of Use

About these terms

FindYourPeers is a free platform that helps university students find project teammates. By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the platform. We may update these terms from time to time; if we make an important change we will update the date above, and continuing to use the platform means you accept the update.

Who can use it

FindYourPeers is for currently enrolled students at supported universities. By signing up, you confirm that you are old enough to agree to these terms where you live, that you are registering with your own institutional email address, and that the information you provide is accurate. Please keep your login details private and use only one account; you are responsible for activity that happens under your account. We only verify your university email domain and nothing more, so do not treat another user being here as any guarantee about who they are.

The platform is provided as is

We offer FindYourPeers on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will always be available, secure, error free, or accurate, that you will find teammates, or that any group will form or succeed. You use the platform at your own risk, and we may change, pause, or discontinue any part of it at any time.

You are responsible for your own interactions

FindYourPeers only helps students discover one another. We do not vet, verify beyond a university email domain, supervise, or take responsibility for any user, post, group, or interaction. Any decision to contact, message, meet, or work with another person, whether online or in person, is your own and at your own risk. Please use good judgment about what you share, and take normal safety precautions when meeting someone for the first time.

Your content and conduct

You own the content you post, and you are responsible for it. By posting, you allow us to store and display it so the platform can work. Please keep things respectful and lawful: do not impersonate anyone, harass or threaten others, post illegal or infringing content, spam, create fake or duplicate accounts, or try to break, scrape, or misuse the platform. We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules or harm other users, and where appropriate we may report serious conduct to a university or the authorities. We are not responsible for content, ratings, reports, or conduct created by other users.

Emails you will receive

By signing up, you agree to receive the emails needed to run the service, such as account confirmation, password resets, group invitations, and occasional reminders about your own posts. We do not send marketing emails without your consent, and deleting your account stops all emails.

No affiliation or endorsement

FindYourPeers is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any university or institution, and we do not endorse or vouch for any student's character, qualifications, or suitability as a teammate. Nothing on the platform is academic, legal, or professional advice, and you should always use your own judgment.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, FindYourPeers and the people behind it are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or inability to use, the platform, or from your interactions with other users, whether online or in person. This includes disputes between users, anything another user says or does, lost data, and any interruption or error in the service. If you are unhappy with the platform, your only remedy is to stop using it. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot legally be excluded. These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
